Meet Jenny

Jenny Costa Honeycutt is a James Island native who understands the barrier islands’ culture and concerns and will fight to protect and improve our community.

As an attorney, Jenny works daily to help small businesses and job creators navigate the
complexities of government bureaucracy and the legal system. Jenny also helps shape the lives of the next generation as an adjunct professor of business law at the College of Charleston and as a volunteer coach at James Island Christian School, where she instills the values of teamwork, goal-setting and perseverance.

Growing up on James Island before there was a Connector, Jenny has seen firsthand what growth in the region looks like. Having spent her summers on Folly Beach, fishing around the Morris Island Lighthouse, and swimming for the Fort Johnson Swim Team – Jenny has always appreciated the unique beauty and quality of life our community offers. As our County Council member, Jenny will work to protect and improve our quality of life.

Following graduation from Ashley Hall, Jenny earned Bachelor of Arts Degrees in both Political Science and Communications from Meredith College, where she was a student-athlete. Jenny furthered her education and built upon her strong work ethic while earning her Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school, she served as law clerk in the Governor’s Office, where she researched the impact of proposed legislation on South Carolina businesses.

After practicing law for a large state-wide firm for eight years, Jenny became a small business owner on James Island. With her firm, Best Honeycutt, PA – Jenny has been named a “Legal Elite of the Lowcountry” by Charleston Business Magazine, named a “Rising Star” by South Carolina Super Lawyers, and has earned an AV Preeminent peer review rating.

Licensed to practice law in South Carolina State and Federal Courts, Jenny is a fierce advocate for her clients. She also has experience in resolving cases through alternative dispute resolution and is certified as a circuit court mediator by the SC Board of Arbitrator and Mediator Certification. As our County Council member, Jenny will utilize her experience in consensus building to better communicate with our neighbors on the important issues we face.

Jenny and her husband, Trey, have three children, and the Honeycutt family now lives in the
Parrot Creek neighborhood on James Island, after living on Johns Island for over a decade.
Together, the family attends James Island Christian Church, where Jenny was a founding
member and serves as a Sunday school leader. Jenny has also served as a James Island Christian School board member and room mom. As an active member of the Junior League of Charleston, Jenny has led efforts to combat poverty and serve the needs of the less fortunate in our community.
